Finance executives play a critical role in your company. They oversee the strategy, execution and overall performance of the financial operations. They must also ensure compliance with fiscal standards and protect company assets. Whether you are seeking a chief financial officer (CFO), corporate controller, director of financial planning and analysis (FP&A) or a director of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), recruiting the right candidate is essential to the balanced management of your company assets.

The finance headhunters at PIXCELL understand that you need to have a proactive, disciplined leader to make the right business and financial decisions and allow your company to grow and thrive. Our rigorous executive search process is based on years of experience in recruiting finance and/or accounting leaders to solve our clients’ unique business challenges.

Three Key Roles for Finance and Accounting Executives

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

The CFO generally reports to the President and CEO. This executive’s role is to oversee economic activity and ensure the sound management of the company’s financial affairs. The CFO is also responsible for managing financial risk.

Depending on the company’s strategy, the CFO may be tasked with analyzing merger and acquisition opportunities or managing investment and financing projects. This executive plays a key role in the company’s development and is accountable to the board of directors, shareholders and investors.

Corporate Controller

The corporate controller oversees all matters related to financial statements. This means ensuring that all financial reports and all transactions and activities related to the accounting cycle are accurate and complete. This executive is also responsible for statutory and regulatory compliance. The corporate controller, who often has CPA designation, must also ensure that audits and external verifications are carried out properly.

Some specific prerequisites may be required of the candidate for this position, including an in-depth knowledge of the Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), International Finance Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Director, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)

The person in this role is responsible for financial planning and analysis. Typically reporting to the vice president of finance or the chief financial officer, this executive oversees the budget process and defines performance indicators, thereby allowing executives to make sound decisions and ensure good risk management.

As a mid-level or senior executive, the director of financial planning and analysis generally supervises the teams responsible for finance and accounting in the company.
