PIXCELL Supports L’Étoile de Pacho with La Soirée Cassiopée

François Piché-Roy, President and Managing Partner of PIXCELL – Leaders Recruiting Leaders, will be the Honorary Chair of the second La Soirée Cassiopée. Proceeds from the fundraising event go to L’Étoile de Pacho, an organization dedicated to supporting the parents of children with severe disabilities.

“I am honoured to host this event and to lend our support to this vital cause. Helping the families of disabled children is particularly personal to me because of the friendship my wife and I have forged with Eugénie and Sébastien, whose daughter Elizabeth suffers from cerebral palsy.

Through them, I have been able to see just how massive an impact the disability of a child can have on a family:

  • Attending endless doctor’s appointments
  • Living with so much uncertainty
  • Knowing your child will be completely dependent all their life, unable to feed themself, clean themself or speak
  • Needing to adapt your house, car, routine and vacations
  • Constantly having family or professional caregivers in your home
  • And so much more

In spite of all that, it also brings a lot of gratitude in the form of big, incredibly sincere smiles, unbridled laughter, and a child who, despite her disability, is deeply happy!

These enormous effects take a toll on parents. In fact, 80% of couples with a disabled child unfortunately separate. In 95% of these cases, the mother is the one who continues to care for the child and is forced to quit her job to do so.

Fortunately, L’Étoile de Pacho is there to support parents by breaking their isolation and helping them connect with the right resources. The organization also offers part-time employment for mothers who have to quit their jobs, helping them balance their family life, their child’s needs, and their career. Today, L’Étoile de Pacho’s 26 employees include 21 mothers and 1 father of a disabled child. L’Étoile de Pacho is there to watch over parents, making sure they have the tools and support they need to adjust to this life change and face the many forms of grief involved. Since I started my company in 2016, my greatest desire has always been to leave a  lasting mark by helping people in dire need—and that is exactly what L’Étoile de Pacho does. For me, this is a way of creating a more inclusive, caring and supportive world.”
